After burning our milky white skin into oblivion, we went to a (subpar) seafood restaurant because we were too late to eat lunch at better restaurants (That Place on 98 for one) and too early for dinner. What can I say? We’re townfolk. I’m vegetarian and, while I’ll occasionally taste a steamed shrimp off Dan’s plate, I don’t want a whole plate of shrimp of my own. Hence my choice of the veggie plate: an undercooked baked potato, fried green tomatoes and fried squash. The squash actually wasn’t half bad, I just wish it came with a nice salad with balsamic dressing and maybe a slice of warm fresh bread. Instead it came with hush puppies (more fried), a stale bun, and crackers and butter as an appetizer.
